COFFEE HUNTERS STORY

In 2013, an unused area within the Selva Negra Farm was turned into a new plot by using seeds from “Reserva Kenya” plot. This plot is called “Escondido” , meaning hidden or secret in Spanish. Walking through the forest at the back of the “Reserva Kenya” plot at an elevation of 1,750m, a coffee plot planted with Kenya cultivar suddenly appears from the forest. This plot is undoubtedly a hidden place. While located at a high elevation on the slope of Santa Ana Volcano, the surrounding forest provides a windshield for the coffee trees. Standing in the middle of this round plot, one feels completely immersed in the surrounding nature with no desire to leave. It was in 2016 when the plot finally started to produce coffee. Surprisingly, the coffee produced there was superior to the ones in Reserva Kenya. As a result, the special brand “Grand Cru Café Limited” was awarded to this coffee.
